Google Doodle on Sabiha Gokcen’s Birthday

On March 22nd, 2009 Google honored Sabiha Gokcen on her birthday with a doodle. It was in Turkey Sabiha Gokcen’s Birthday Doodle was published. There was an inclusion of Sabiha’s image in the doodle to convey the message of her birthday to the Turkish people.

Sabiha Gokcen is the first female pilot to fly the fighter planes. She was an adopted girl by the Gocken family. Sabiha Gokcen is a role model to all women. She showed us that if there is true dedication and will power we can achieve what we want.

Sabiha Gokcen’s Birthday Google doodle is obviously dedicated for her confidence and the decision that she took in her life. In the Gokcen doodle it was alphabets ‘o’ replaced with Sabiha Gokcen’s image in it. It is designed as if Gocken is flying the plane and looking through the window.

Sabiha was a woman who succeeded in many areas of life and was also a good social activist. According to the reports available Gocken have spent about more than 8000 hours in sky flying 22 different aircraft. Many confidential operations were also lead by her during this course of time.

Due to Sabiha’s extra ordinary will power and talent Turkish Aeronautical Association recognized her with the Jeweled Award. Apart from this many awards were given to her during her life time. It was in the year 2001 on March 22nd she died at the age of 88.

During her life time Sabiha also worked as a trainer in the Turkish flight school. Till 1964 ,  Sabiha was active in this field. About 28 years she worked as pilot and in other designations related to aviation.

After her death also she was recognized by many honors. In Istanbul there is Sabiha Gocken’s  international airport. To celebrate the 100th birthday of Sabiha Gokcen Turkish Aeronautical Association published the book “A life along the path of Austuruk”. She was the only female listed in the ’20 Great aviators in the history of world’. Now with this doodle Google also recognized Gocken talent and skill and announced it to all Turkish people on her birthday.
