Birthday doodle for Shakuntala Devi ‘The Human Computer’ by Google

Google honored Shakuntala Devi, known as Human Computer on November 4th, on her 84th Birthday with a Google doodle portraying her image.

Shakuntala Devi have shown great skill in doing complex calculations with numbers much faster and easier. Shakuntala even have gained the record of doing calculation faster than computer. This made her known by name ‘Human Computer’.In the Google doodle for honoring Shakuntala Devi we can see her image replacing Google logo alphabet ‘G’ followed by calculator representation of digits.

To make the doodle lively there is also animation added to it. In 1982 Shakuntala Devi’s name was listed in Guinness Book of Records for her ability in doing complicated calculations, she calculated the 23rd root of a 201 digit number in 50 seconds.

Shakuntala Devi was also a well known writer. Books on mathematics, puzzles and astrology by her have great publicity. Shakuntala Devi have also wrote novels and cook books. Devi’s book ‘ The Wonder of Homosexuals’ is regarded as the first study on this topic in India.

More over as a writer, Devi was renowned for her extraordinary brilliance in calculations and simplifications. Till now we can’t see a personality who have shown ability to overtake her computing speed.

In fact, Devi works are not recognized at its best. Most of Devi’s books helps in making maths much easier and simple for students. If they have got proper recognition, it could have been chosen for school syllabus and educational institutions. Shakuntala Devi was died on 21 April 2013.
