Google Doodle for Victoria Ocampo is decorated with red shade depicting her image with ‘SUR’ magazine in her hand. ‘SUR’ was the most famous literary magazine of her time in Latin America.

Famous Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges once said Ocampo is the quintessential Argentine Woman. It was in 1931, Ocampo founded ‘SUR’ magazine. There were many prominent writers who contributed to the success of magazine. Magazine was published for many decades in Argentina. It’s in 1992, SUR’s last copy got published.
Her courage and attitude amazed many leaders of the time. The way she came up with her views in her writings attracted lot of audience. Ocampo was the member of Agentine Academ of Letters. She became member in 1976, also, she was the first woman to be the member of academy.
Ocampo was given many honors and awards for her activities including Commander of Order of British Empire(CBE), Doctor Honoris Causa from Hadvar University, Maria Moos Cabot Prize and so on. Ocampo’s life became theme for films and plays. Her political views and attitude have inspired lot of people.
She was one of the powerful ladies in the world. At age of 88, on 27 January in the year 1979, Ocampo died at Beccar in Buenos Aires.
