St Patrick Day 2005 Google Doodle

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on the death anniversary of the Christian Saint Patrick. The life time of Saint Patrick was regarded as AD 387-461. It’s believed that Saint Patrick was died on AD 461 on March 17th.  Apart from Ireland people over Canada, United States, Argentina, New Zealand, Great Britain and Australia also observe the day with great importance.

Google also had showed their respect towards the Saint on his death anniversary with this doodle. Almost every year Google published special doodles in its homepage on this day. In the year Google designed the logo with the green color which is the main colors associated with St. Patrick’s Day from centuries.

Google doodle also included the pictures of shamrock. Shamrock is a small plant with three leafs. It’s believed that St. Patrick used the Shamrock to explain about the importance about holy trinity to the Irish people. Irish people can’t imagine about St. Patrick’s Day without thinking of Shamrock.

St Patrick Day 2005 Google Doodle was also decorated with this special leaf in its homepage. There are many legends behind the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Some of it is related to Pot of Gold and leprechaun. We can see a hat on the Google letter ‘o’ in the doodle and the Shamrock plant on the all other letters. This design concept added the beauty of the doodle.

St .Patrick’s Day parade is seen all over the countries in which the day is observed. People usually use the green color costumes to attend the St. Patrick’s parade. In primary years when the observance started the color associated with the day was blue but by the passing of time it changed to green.

There is a tradition of pinching those who comes for St. Patrick’s Day functions without wearing green dress. It was at New York City in 1776 the first St. Patrick’s parade took place.

Special green colored decorations are seen on every streets, malls and houses on this day in honor of St. Patrick. People over Ireland give great value for the St. Patrick’s Day programs .

History says that St. Patrick was born in Britain in the year AD 387.  He was kidnapped at the age of sixteen and was bought to Ireland. He worked has a slave in Ireland for many years and went back to Britain and became a priest. It was believed that he got a dream in which God told him to do so.

Patrick was the man who made the Christianity familiar to Irish people. The way he taught them was different and simple. His teachings gave Irish people knew knowledge and sense. It was in honor to this great man who introduced the Christianity to common Irish man St. Patrick’s Day started to be observed with great importance.
