Google celebrates 266th Birthday of Olympe de Gouges with Doodle

Google published Olympe de Gouges 266th birthday Doodle within the homepage of France. Olympe de Gouges was ‘women of letters’ and popular feminist of France.

Within this birthday Google Doodle you can see the portrait of Olympe de Gouges, by replacing ‘L’ letter within official logo. The Doodle represents her effort for declaration of rights for womens.

Olympe de GougesOlympe de Gouges is the first feminist to demand French women must have equal rights in the society. It is only her effort which made the declaration of rights of women and female citizen in 1791.

Olympe de Gouges started her political work since 1780s, She wrote many pamphlets and posters against the injustice and inequality that arises in the society at that time. She also wrote many political drama to bring positive change in the society.

She also introduced divorce law to protect women and childrens. At last Olympe de Gouges executed by guillotine in Paris on 3rd November 1793.
