National Liberation Day Korea 2014 Google Doodle

Today’s Google Doodle in Korea mark’s 69th Liberation Day of the country. Google’s well known logo change featured in red and black color includes date of independence in it.

It’s in commemoration of Independence of  Korea from Japanese rule in 1945 August 15, Liberation Day is observed every year. Messages and wishes are flowing to country for the Anniversary day of Korean Liberation. In Korea, Victory over Japan Day is also used in reference for the day.

National Liberation Day of Korea is a Public Holiday. National Flag also known as Taegukki is the main symbol for the days celebration. Public places, houses and offices will be decorated with Taegukki, symbolically to show respect for nation. Parades, Patriotic songs and other cultural programs will also takes place on the day.

In South Korea, Gwangbokjeol is the name and in North Korea, Jogukhaebngui nal is used to represent day. Most of the public places and public transportation are open with out any charges for people in Korea to make the day special. Liberation Day song, written by Jeong Inbo is sung on Liberation Day.

Official Independence Day programs takes place at Independence Hall of Korea in presence of President.Usually, Korean government will issue special pardon for few selected  prisoners on Liberation Day.

Google have also been the part of Korean Liberation Day wishing with their Doodles since 2001.This year also wishes Happy Liberation Day with the doodle.Along with Korea, India also celebrates Independence Day on 15 August every year. Google have published doodle for India Independence Day too in Google India homepage on the day. Clicking on the doodle in Korea which is visible for 24 hours on Google Homepage, search results and links for ‘Korea Liberation Day’ will be listed.
