Google’s Tribute to Antoni Tapies on 90th Birthday with doodle

Antoni Tapies, the famous artist from Spain was honored with a Google Doodle on the homepage of Google Spain on 13 December 2013.

Google doodle for Antoni Tapies included one of his famous art work ‘ Chair and clothing’. It’s in the place of Google logo alphabet ‘l’ , we can see the chair and clothing. Every other alphabet and also the background of the Google doodle is also transformed to resemble his iconic work.

Born on December 13 in 1923, Tapies was renowned as a sculptor and art theorist along with what he is famous for, as a painter. It’s during the second world war time, Tapies came forward with his ability in graphic works. Tapies combining with renowned artists and poets of the time created many graphical works also.  He was also an essay writer.

In 1950’s and 1960’s Antoni Tapies have came up with many solo as well as combined exhibitions in many countries. Foe his great talent, Tapies was honored with many awards during his life time. His honors include prize for arts of Catalonia, Prince of Austrias award for art and so on. There is a comparatively large list of awards he got for his works.

Tapies had given many contributions to the mordern art. Tapies foundation that he started in 1984 is particularly giving stress to the development in studies of modern art.  Museum he opened in Barcelona included more than 2000 works. It was in 1990, Tapies library and museum was started.

Antoni Tapies was died in the year 2012 on February 6th at the age of 88. It was 90th birthday of this great artist, who contributed much to modern art was honored by search giant with a special doodle including his famous work. This was his first birth after the demise.Thousands of Google users from Spain saw the doodle dedicated to this prominent artist on the day.
