Children’s Day is observed in many countries with variance in the day in which it is celebrated as a global recognition for children.  Globally Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20. It varies according to regions and is celebrated as predate to both Mother’s and Father’s Day.

International Children’s Day is celebrated as a result of proclamation given by United Nations General Assembly in 1954. The celebration has 2 main goals. One is to build mutual exchange and understanding among children and second goal is to take appropriate actions towards the welfare of the world’s children.

Google released a special doodle on May 5, 2002 as a part of Children’s Day celebration. Google Children’s day 2002 doodle is quiet simple. There is a favorite fish kites for children which is used in some countries like Japan in Children’s Day celebration. Both fish kites are tied to the ‘l’ letter of Google Doodle. The day is dedicated to promote the welfare of children. United Nations declared the rights for the children on November 20. 1959. On November 20, 1989 United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEFreserved special rights that are written in 1989 international human rights treaty.

A day for children to ensure that they have the access of basic education and protect them from working in dangerous circumstances for hours. In order to preserve their rights the Children’s Day is established in 1954 keeping the above mentioned rights in the mind. It was the effort of UN General Assembly to direct all the nations to declare an appropriate day as Children’s Day.

According to United States recommendation Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20 as a major global variant. Children’s Day is celebrated on other dates in different countries. After the Women’s International Democratic Federation conducted on November 1949 congress in Paris, June 1 is declared as Children’s Day in many countries since from 1950.

UNICEF takes several steps for the welfare of children. UNICEF provides vaccines and good health care, education and other good environment for children welfare. Universal Children’s Day is not a mere day to honor children for whom they are but it is the way to spread awareness against the abuse, discrimination and exploitation.

Although all nations celebrate it in different days or its celebration varies according to the region, the ultimate aim of this day is the welfare and goodwill of future citizens, today’s children.
