“We conducted that approximately 6 million Facebook users had email addresses or telephone numbers shared. There were other email addresses or telephone numbers included in downloads, nut they were not connected to any Facebook users or even names of individuals. For almost all of email addresses or telephone numbers impacted, each individual email address or telephone number was only included in download once or twice. This means in almost all cases an email address o telephone number was only exposed to one person. Additionally no other types of personal of financial information were included” Facebook white hat program team shared.

The leaking of such personal information being happened through the Download Your Information tool. Also the usage of user informations for making friends recommendation also causes this problem.  Facebook itself said that there is no guarantee on how long this bug found within the time line. So that they are going to temporary removal of DYI tool from the profile. Facebook will bring back this tool after the effective bug fixing.

The Facebook users who lost the contact details will get an email from FB authorities for to inform about bug fixing. All major regulators have been notified by the Company. The white hat program team of Facebook work hard to fix this problem soon.s
