Have you ever thought of how Google was founded. Whenever the Phd students Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at standford university, the first step to the search giant had moved, The birth of Google.
It was in 1996 the Stanford Digital Library Project (SDPL) which became a milestone in the Google history was developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin with the assistance of Terry Winograd. Initially the project was named as Back Rub. PageRank algorithm was developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin as a part of this project at that time to index the important search document from a given set.
The birth of Google
The project was implemented in the Stanford University library in the same year. After successful implementation of Back Rub they realized that it could be extended to a higher level and started working on it. As a result of it Larry Page and Sergey Brin came up with the new version of it ‘GOOGLE’ on 1998. It was by making slight variations from the word Googol which is used to represent the number one which is followed by hundred zeros the name Google was selected.
In the year on which it had been introduced itself it got worldwide recognition. Google had an index of 60 million pages in the year 1998 and it had a place among the top 100 website according to the report by PC Magazine. In the year 1999 Google was given the Technical excellence award. This honors which were gained by Google shows the popularity of it in the initial stages of its development.
Now after travelling the journey of great fourteen years you can see Google at the top of world. Company had grown to such a level that now we can’t even imagine about passing a day without using a Google application. Google had come up with a series of tools and applications in this fourteen year. It includes searching tools, map related applications, mobile applications, statistical applications and so on.
There is no other service now which could replace Google. The main thing that make Google unique and different from others is its stand on creating an ecofriendly atmosphere which provide a free and relaxed working conditions for their more than 1000 employees. The headquarters at Mountain View, California is a clear example of this.
Google’s journey of success is continuing and hopefully it will reach to a level that no one can imagine with in few years. Recently Google had come up with new technologies, tools and applications like Google+, Google Earth 6.2 which make it accepted by each and every one in the nook and corner of world.
Acceptance of the company reached to such a level that now there are more than 200 million searches in its search engine in a single day. The Android operating system which was introduced in the market in 2005 by Google have undertaken 78% the mobile applications hold with in this small time period. We can expect many more techniques and technologies from Google in following years.
