2006 Torino Olympic Games or 2006 Winter Olympics is officially known as XX Olympic Winter Games. It is organized as a multi-sport event which is held during the days in between February 10 to 26 in Turin, Italy. Google came up with Google Doodle for this.
2006 Torino Olympic Games Google Doodles Opening Ceremony (February 10, 2006)
The opening ceremony of 2006 Torino Olympic Games was held in Turin, Italy at the Stadio Olimpico. The Opening ceremony begins at 20:00CET which is attended by almost 35,000 spectators.
The ceremony was become more success with the presence of Italian celebrities and showcased Italian designs with the support of these huge spectators. In order to reach through the world wide audience the opening ceremony is captured by 32 television cameras and broadcasted through different channels. It is estimated that almost two-billion audience watched this ceremony through television.
The ceremony presented the culture and region of Italy. The customary parade of athlets takes place from different countries and their respective flag hosting along with the Olympic flag. Along with trhe show of fireworks there were choreography and pageantry. After lightning the Olympic flame the ceremony comes to an end.
2006 Torino Olympic Games Google Doodles Snowboarding (February 13, 2006)
The snowboarding event was categorized to parallel giant slalom, snowboard cross and halfpipe events in for both men and women. Almost 24 NOC’S participated in the tournament.
In those 24 nations only 9 was able to get a remark in the event by winning medals. With 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medal United States was ended in top position. Behind US Switzerland secured second position with 3 Gold and 1 Silver. Germany and Slovakia comes in third position with 1 silver medal.
2006 Torino Olympic Games Google Doodles Ice Dancing (February 14, 2006)
Ice dancing comes under the category of the Game called Figure skating. 2006 Torino Olympic Games Figure skating competitions are held at the Palavela venue in Turin.
Apart from Ice dancing there are other events like Pair skating and individual skating competition in men’s and women’s category for Figure skating. Almost 35 NOC’s are participated for the event and only 7 teams manage to win at least one medal. In Ice Dancing competition Russia, United States and Ukraine won the Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively.

2006 Torino Olympic Games Luge competition was held at Cesana Pariol in Cesana, Italy. There were three category of events were held for men’s and women’s single and doubles.
About 24 NOC’s participated in 2006 Torino Olympic Games Luge competition. Among these 24 nations only 5 was managed to win a medal. Germany comes in the top of the total medal ranking with 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze. Then comes Italy with 1 Gold and 1 Bronze. Third position occupied by Austria with 1 Gold medal.

2006 Torino Olympic Games – Speed Skating competition was held at the Oval Lingotto. The competition is held for ten days from 11th to 21st February. Almost 19 NOC’s participated for the completion.
There were men’s 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m, 5000 m and 10000 m events in single’s category and a team pursuit event were organized. In women’s category 500 m, 100 m, 1500 m, 3000 m and 5000 m for single’s event and team pursuit event were organized. In the total medal ranking United State won top position with 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medal. Netherlands comes in second with 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Canada comes in 3rd position with 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

2006 Torino Olympic Games – Ski Jump competition were held at Pragelato. The 2006 Torino Olympic ski jump competition were held for 9 days from 11 February to 20 February. Almost 21 NOC’s were participated for the event.
In the 21 nations only 3 were managed to achieve medals in the 3 category of events for 2006 Torino Olympic Games – Ski Jump competition. The 3 categories are Normal Hill individual, Large Hill individual and Large Hill team events. Austria become top of the medal table with 2 Gold and 1 Silver respectively. Next comes Norway with 1 Gold and 3 Bronze medals. Third position occupied by Finland with 2 Silver medals.
