2006 Torino Olympic Games Google Doodle series 2

In the year 2006 Italy hosted Winter Olympics Games second time. It was when in 1956 for VII Olympic Winter Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo Italy hosted Oplympics first time. Here are series of Google Doodle in the Olympic 2006.

2006 Torino Olympic Games Freestyle Skiing events were held at Sauze d’Oulx in Turin. The competition is divided in to 2 events called aerials and moguls for both men and women.

Almost 22 NOC’s participated in the competition but in those only 10 nations succeed in winning medals. In the medal table China occupied the top position with 1 Gold and1 Silver. With one Gold and 1 Bronze Australia occupied second position.

2006 Torino Olympic Games Curling was held during February 13 to February 24in the town of Pinerolo, Italy. In terms of television rating the Curling tournament is viewed by people and become a sleeper hit in Italy.

In women’s tournament Sweden, Switzerland and Canada won the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal respectively. In men’s tournament Canada, Finland and United States won Gold, Silver and Bronze medal respectively.

2006 Torino Olympic Games Alpine Skiing were held at Sestriere and Cesana-San Sicario, Italy from February 12 to 25. There were 5 category of events known as Downhill, Combined, Super – G, Giant Slalom and Slalom.

The entry to the Alpine Skilling competition was determined by qualifying rounds held in January. In the whole championship considering category of events for both women and men Austria was secured the top position with 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. United States secured the second position with 2 Gold medals. Croatia occupied 3rd position by 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals.

2006 Torino Olympic Games Figure Skating competition was held at the Palavela venue in Turin. The Figure Skating competition is categorized in to 4 events.

The 4 events are Men’s singles, Ladies singles, pair skating and Ice Dancing. According to the medal table after all these events Russia comes topper in the medal table with 3 Gold and 1 Bronze medals. Then Japan comes next in the medal table with 1 Gold medal. United States secured third position with 2 silver medals.

2006 Torino Olympic Games Google Doodle Hockey (February 24, 2006)

2006 Torino Olympic Games Ice Hockey competition for men was held from 15 to 26 February at the Torino Palasport Olimpico and the Torino Esposizioni in Turin, Italy. For women the competition was from 11 to 20 February at the same venue.

There was a preliminary qualification round. After that 12 teams were selected to play the tournament. The primary stage matches are held Group wise with on each group contains 6 teams. In the men’s Ice hockey championship Sweden, Finland and Czech Republic won the Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively. In women’s tournament Canada, Sweden and United States won the Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively.

2006 Torino Olympic Games – Closing Ceremony was take place on 26th February at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, Italy at 20:00 CET. The closing ceremony is officially announced by International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge and he remark it as “magnificent”.

During the closing ceremony the medal ceremony for the last event called cross-country skiing men’s 50 km was given. Also the medals for long races in Winter Olympic Games are awarded during closing time. The closing ceremony of Olympics 2006 also had become colorful and popular as the Opening ceremony with the parades of athletes from different nations.
