2002 Winter Olympics Google Doodles 1

Winter Olympics 2002 was organized as a multi-sport event conducted in February. Winter Olympics 2002 was rich with participation. Around 2,400 athletes from 77 nations take part in 78 events which is conducted as 165 sporting sessions and fifteen disciplines. Google released a series of doodles as a part of Winter Olympics 2002.

2002 Winter Olympics Google Doodles Opening Ceremony (Feb 8, 2002)

Winter Olympics 2002 Opening Ceremony was held on February 8, 2002. Both 2002 Paralympic Games and 2002 Winter Olympics were held by Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC). The host city called as Salt Lake City was in the Utah state in United States. By hosting this Winter Olympics 2002 Utah become the fifth state in the United States to host for the Olympic Games.

Winter Olympics 2002 Opening Ceremony (Feb 8, 2002)

For the opening ceremony the turf of the stadium was removed and instead of it stadium was filled with large ice rink was installed which covers lot of space in the stadium. The main attraction of opening ceremony was the American Flag which is rescued from the World Trade Center Site on November 11 was carried in to stadium.  Flag was carried by firefighters and police officers with the honor guard by American athletes. The main guests for the opening ceremony were Mitt Romney, the CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and Jacques Rogge, President over the IOC. The Olympic flame was carried in to stadium by the Gold medalists Dorothy Hammel and Dick Button after the travel of 13 500 miles.

Google released a special doodle on the opening of Winter Olympics 2002.  Google Doodle  pictured the snow filled Alps mountain as to describe the Winter Olympics. In order to show that it’s the time for opening of the events the Olympic flame is lighted in this doodle.

2002 Winter Olympics Google Doodles Alpine Skiing (Feb 14, 2002)

Winter Olympics 2002 Alpine Skiing events are started on February 10 and continue to hold till February 23. The ten events of Alpine Skiing category are held near Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A. The combined events are held in Snowbasin, the giant slalom at Park City and slalom events at Deer Valley.

Now we can enter straight away to the statistics of the game. The events are Downhill, Combined, Super-G, Giant slalom and Slalom for both genre category (men and women). In men’s category Austria dominated as far as medal table is concerned. They won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. In women’s category Croatia dominated the medal table with 3 Gold, 1 Silver medal. In overall Croatia won the total medal race with 3 Gold and 1 Silver medal. Austria comes second with 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. France came in 3rd position with 2 Gold medals and 2 Silver medals. A special doodle is released as a part of Winter Olympics 2002 Alpine Skiing competition. There is little difference from original logo. The doodle pictured the event with a rabbit as the player.

2002 Winter Olympics Google Doodles Freestyle Skiing (Feb 15, 2002)              

Winter Olympics 2002 Freestyle Skiing events are held at the venue in Deer Valley in Salt Lake City. There are both aerials and moguls events and both men and women participated in both events. Winter Olympics 2002 Freestyle Skiing events organized between February 9 and 19.

In men’s moguls Finland, United States, France won the Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively. In women’s moguls Norway, United States and Japan won the Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively. In men’s aerials Czech Republic, United States and Belarus won the Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively. In women’s aerials Australia won the Gold medal and Canada won both the Silver and Gold medals. In Winter Olympics 2002 Freestyle Skiing Australia, Czech Republic, Finland, Norway share first position in medal table with the single Gold medal. A special doodle is released as a part of Winter Olympics 2002 Freestyle Skiing competition. There is little difference from original logo. The doodle pictured as little comic manner with pictured the event for which the doodle is released.

2002 Winter Olympics Google Doodles Bobsled (Feb 16, 2002)

Winter Olympics 2002 Bobsled competitions are held at the host city Salt Lake City. There are categories of events for men and women. The events are grouped with 2-men, 4-men and 2-women events.

In two-man event Germany won the Gold medal and Switzerland won the Silver and Bronze medals respectively. In four-man grouped event Germany won the Gold medal and United States won the Silver and Bronze medals respectively. In two-woman event United States won the Gold medal and Germany won the Silver and Bronze medals respectively.  Now let’s analyses the medal statistics of top teams. According to overall performance Germany secures the top position with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and Bronze medal. United States comes in second position with a single Gold, Silver and Bronze medal. .
